I am a board-certified, detail-oriented psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP) with a commitment to preventative measures for a healthy lifestyle. I specialize in assessing, diagnosing, and treating patients with various mental health diagnoses such as depression, anxiety disorders, panic attacks, OCD, PTSD, ADHD, and other mood disorders. I provide medication management and supportive therapy. I am a great listener with a strong passion for patient-centered care. I take an interest in educating my patients to empower them to make educated decisions about their health. I am currently licensed in MD and DC.
In our first session together, we'll start with brief introductions, then dive into the specific challenges you're facing. This will help me create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions.
With almost two decades of patient care and 5 years of diagnosing and treating patients with different mental health disorders, my biggest strengths are with adult patients with Depression, Anxiety disorders, Insomnia, Bipolar disorders, Trauma and PTSD, OCD, Schizophrenia, ADHD, Eating disorders, and Panic disorders.
I like to focus on clients with all the specialties listed below.
I provide supportive therapy and counseling to all my patients in addition to medication management.
With almost two decades of combined clinical experience, I take the time to provide in-depth education about the plan of care for each patient. I explain each medication, the potential side effects, and the mechanisms of action. I also provide evidence-based answers to questions and concerns expressed by my patients.
Empathy is a key factor that drives the care I provide to anyone who comes to my practice. I understand that each encounter is all about you, and I take the time to listen therapeutically. Just like pain, I view mental health as being subjective to the person experiencing it.
Motivational interviewing is grounded in empathy, active listening, and respect for autonomy. In my practice, I use this method by using open-ended questions, affirmations, reflective listening, and summarization to help individuals identify their own reasons for change and build confidence in their ability to achieve it.
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) in focusing on identifying and helping individuals change negative thought patterns and behaviors. I collaborate with them to develop healthier coping strategies by challenging distorted thinking, addressing maladaptive behaviors, and building practical skills to manage emotions and solve problems effectively.
