Has trauma or painful life experiences left you triggered, panicked, feeling constant self-doubt, high anxiety, depressed, and a sense that maybe life is pointless? How many times has your doctor, physician assistant, nurse practitioner, psychiatrist, or good friend uttered the words, “get EMDR”? Empirically validated EMDR for individuals trauma, painful life experiences, anxiety, social anxiety, self-esteem, pain and grief can help you move forward to the life you want. I am passionate about trauma, anxiety, and grief. I love hearing a trauma client say, "I don't feel it anymore, it's just an old unfortunate memory. " Anxiety/Depression, "I've been using those techniques, they actually help." Those in grief recognize "This is hard but I know what I need to do."

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

My intake sessions, will give you a chance to talk about your struggles. I ask you questions to get a perspective of your history, your world and your challenges. Then we will collaborate on a plan to move forward.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My office is a no-judgement, no-pressure zone. I want you to feel comfortable and supported. I don't view you as being flawed, but as someone ready to start living.

My treatment methods

EMDR

EMDR is a structured therapy that encourages the patient to focus briefly on the trauma memory while simultaneously experiencing bilateral stimulation (typically eye movements), which is associated with a reduction in the vividness and emotion associated with the trauma memories. Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is an extensively researched, effective psychotherapy method proven to help people recover from trauma and PTSD symptoms. Ongoing research supports positive clinical outcomes showing EMDR therapy as a helpful treatment for disorders such as anxiety, depression, OCD, chronic pain, addictions, and other distressing life experiences.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is a unique empirically based psychological intervention that uses acceptance and mindfulness strategies, together with commitment and behavior change strategies, to increase psychological flexibility. Psychological flexibility means contacting the present moment fully as a conscious human being, and based on what the situation affords, changing or persisting in behavior in the service of chosen values.

Mind-body approach

The HeartMath is a simple to use, energy-saving, self-regulation strategies designed to reduce the intensity of a stress reaction and to establish a calm, but alert state. It helps you to take a “time-out” where you can step back and neutralize depleting emotions

Grief Therapy

There are no right or wrong ways to grieve. There are no time frames to grieve. Greif must be digested and metabolized to move on. It is not easy because the same neuro-pathways that carry physical pain to our brain carry emotional pain. With grief therapy, we work on eliminating those unresolved issues that block us from processing grief.
