15 years of experience

Welcome! I'm Amy. I wonder if you ever feel like you are in a thunderstorm with no shelter in sight? Or your worries are so heavy that they spill into your dreams? To be human is to struggle. Maybe you have been struggling for a long time or maybe just a short while. No matter what storm you are weathering, I am here to walk beside you and help you find shelter. My specialties include the treatment of anxiety, grief/loss and self worth. Difficulties in life are usually more complex than just falling into one category or another; but know that you are seen. Together, we can find a healing approach that works best for you. There is no judgement here. Only unwavering support and tools to help get you feeling better.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In the first session we will get to know one another better. We will talk about what brings you to therapy and I will gather a little background information as well. You will have the opportunity to ask any questions that you have and we will plan on a time to meet again. In the last few minutes of the initial session we will also identify one skill, until we meet again, that you can practice to help find some relief. In the next session we will create a treatment plan to identify the steps to take to achieve the long and short term goals you may have for your mental health. Each time we meet for sessions we will do a check in at the beginning to see if we would like to do something together to help center yourself for the session.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

I enjoy using a wide range of therapy models and tools but I typically take an eclectic and strengths based approach to therapy. I use evidence based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) along with experiential therapy. Experiential therapy can help you use creativity, your own verbiage, activities, etc. to express what you experience, think, and feel. I see therapy as treating the whole person. Not just the symptoms that may have brought you here. I will help you regulate your system (mind, body, spirit) by introducing new coping skills, challenging unhelpful thinking patterns, and processing trauma/grief/and or loss. Together we will help you feel more in control of how you feel and how you choose to express these emotions.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I pride myself on creating a non-judgmental and healing environment which will help us become more mindful and connected with your authentic self.
