I'm an Army veteran, martial artist, and holistic psychotherapist. I use my experience from the military and martial arts to create a unique approach to a client's mental health. I help clients get to know different versions of themselves and ultimately put their true Self back in the leadership role. This involves helping clients get to know different parts of their personality more intimately so that they can better understand why they do what they do. This experience is handled with care and compassion in a direct way and helps change a client's model of themselves, others, and the world around us.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During our first session, the client and I will get to know each other better. Clients can ask me questions about whatever they'd like so that they can be more comfortable in the therapy room. I will also introduce my therapeutic style to the client and provide psychoeducation on how it works. If there is time, we will do some exercises to either give the client coping skills, or to begin the process of getting to know their different parts of their personality.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My ability to understand a client's suffering without judgement has served me well as a clinician and allows me to connect with clients more quickly and effectively than other clinicians. Clients seem to sense that I too have been through my own experiences of suffering, and that I am there to help. I am also clear and concise in my explanations, helping clients to understand and navigate the sometimes-confusing clinical jargon that gets thrown around.

My treatment methods

Internal Family Systems (IFS)

I combine my knowledge of holistic practices with a Trauma & Internal Family Systems (IFS)-informed approach to therapy to help others find their own path and true Self. I believe that we all have an unbroken, compassionate, and whole version of ourselves that can be uncovered to lead us into a more fulfilling life. IFS calls this part Self, Buddhism calls it Buddha Nature, Christianity the Holy Spirit, Hinduism the Atman, and indigenous peoples of South America refer to it as Pacha mama or Mother Earth. There are a multitude of ways this inner Self is referred to in a myriad of cultures and as your therapist, I intend to help you connect with it in a way that is meaningful to you.

EMDR

EMDR is a way that I help client's process trauma that may be more difficult to articulate or get in touch with through IFS or traditional means. I guide clients through a step-by-step process of educating them on EMDR, gaining skills to navigate EMDR and what it might bring up, followed by integrating newly formed, more realistic ideas about themselves that have come forth through EMDR.
