I believe in the counseling therapeutic process which is vital in the task of achieving change in one’s life. Everyone must cope with life experiences and in some instances those situations become too difficult to handle alone. It is a time in everyone’s life where one may need to obtain assistance with life stressors. There is no shame in seeking out help to take action that is needed for change. Counseling is the catalyst for one to become educated on how to deal with those challenging issues. My view is that counseling is a journey of self-exploration by the client meant to increase their level in understanding themselves in a more enlighten manner. I as a counselor will guide and facilitate that journey. Along that journey I will give essential advice to the client to discover the solutions for those issues. It is also my job to assist in identifying as well as developing and mobilizing the client’s own resources to solve those problems. The goal is to understand the problems the client is dealing with, and then to pursue effective treatment options. I will be supportive and sympathetic to help clients overcome self-imposed obstacles.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

As the clinician I am here to walk with you on a journey to a better you. What you goals are we will address them together. You are not alone.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

Cognitive Behavioral therapy is the treatment method that I utilize. I believe that it's dysfunctional thinking that leads to dysfunctional emotions or behaviors. By changing one's thoughts, they can change how they feel and what they do.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My formal training in the counseling field comes from my graduate degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Capella University. There I facilitated individual counseling with children, adolescents, and adults with an array of life dilemmas. I also have worked with individuals that were diagnosed with mental illness in group homes focusing on addressing transitioning to independent living from obtaining life skills. I have had the pleasure to work with diverse populations of different cultures, ethnicities, sexual orientation and genders that exhibit a wide range of presenting issues. I find counseling as a true calling to assist individuals in enhancing their quality of life. It is a true honor to me to become a part of my client’s lives as a partner to success toward your goals.
