Hello, my name is Breanna Lynn and I am fortunate to work in a field that I am truly passionate about as a therapist. My goal has always been to help people be their most authentic self. My hope for all my clients is to provide a safe, secure, and non-judgmental space to traverse the potential challenges and barriers that they feel interfere with their journey.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

It is understandable that the first step of reaching out for therapy can be an unnerving experience. I encourage any person considering therapy to ask all the questions they would like in order to better identify what they feel they need. What you can expect in a first session is pretty simple and is set at your own pace. We begin with a brief introduction in addition to me briefly explaining "need to know information" (i.e. confidentially, informed consent, etc.). Next, I like to hear what brought you to therapy and background about who you are. Getting to just know more about who you are allows me to better understand how I can best work with you. Towards the end I always like to leave time to answer any questions you may have. To wrap up our session I typically like to hear what some of your goals are for therapy (guessing is fine here and the answers can always change). My only goal in our first session is to get to know you a little better.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Having worked in the mental health field for 9 years, I have gotten the opportunity to learn a lot about what I can and will continue to do in order to be the best clinician I am capable of being. I am grateful to have had the ability to gain experience through working in hospitals, juvenile justice system, department of corrections, treatment programs, and the education system. I have gotten to meet several individuals along my journey as a therapist and each experience has sharpened my skills and increased my knowledge. I have learned to lead with empathy and compassion, however I would say my greatest strength is being authentic in both my personal life and in my role as a therapist. I recognize as a client how powerful, comforting, and necessary it is to speak with a human first and foremost (the perk is that I am also an educated, skilled, and passionate licensed professional clinical counselor).

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Strong structural foundation for being aware of what one thinks, feels, and does.

Daialectical Behavior (DBT)

Focuses on the mastery of the 4 skills: Distress Tolerance, Interpersonal Effectiveness, Emotional Regulation, and Mindfulness. This modality is highly recommended for those who are struggling with symptoms of disordered eating.

Cognitive Processing (CPT)

Treatment approach that focuses on the reduction of PTSD symptoms through the processing of the way we think about: safety, trust, self-esteem, power/control, and intimacy.

Humanistic

Treating each individual as a whole through the integration of what makes them who they are; not just treating pieces or parts of them.
