I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW - VA) (LICSW – D.C.) with over 22 years of experience working with adolescents, adults, and older adults in both inpatient and outpatient medical and community settings. I received my Undergraduate Degree from the University of Pennsylvania, and my Master's Degree in Social Work from New York University (NYU). I consider myself to be an authentic, genuine, sincere individual who is deeply intuitive & empathic and who wants nothing more than for individuals who come for treatment to be relieved of their anguish, anxiety, acute depression, relationship conflicts & struggles, PTSD symptoms, and any other form of angst, suffering, or psychic pain that they may bear. My wish for clients is to be freed of the weight of their burdens & baggage.
What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?
For starters, I will meet you right where you are. You need not move an inch. I believe that you will find my therapeutic interactions to be genuine, authentic, and non-judgmental. I believe that you will feel safe and cared for in my presence, by my energy, and in my approach. I believe that you will find me easy to talk to, understanding, and sensitive. When engaging and doing work in therapy, in a committed and dedicated manner, one should notice that the quality of their life will begin to improve in both subtle and not so subtle ways.
Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.
I am patient and I am kind. I strive to be present, attuned, to bear witness to one’s narrative, and to provide individuals who I see with a safe space to unearth, process, and make sense of things in their life that have stymied or thwarted them, resulting in undesirable patterns of thought, behaviors, and or symptoms. The therapeutic relationship, more so than any specific intervention or technique employed, has been proven to be the single most important differential in determining change. The therapeutic relationship is the 'change agent'.
Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.
Clients who are able and willing to be vulnerable, emotional, self-aware, mindful, and real will achieve the most with me. I am best positioned to serve clients who are willing to put forth effort and to do work, to look inward, and to meet me half-way. I am best positioned to serve clients who are willing to go into the pain in order to get out of the pain. I am best positioned to serve those who are wanting and striving to grow and evolve as a person, parent, professional, or partner. My purpose in serving clients is to enable individuals to attain and achieve mastery over difficulties in how they feel, think, and act on a daily basis. My intent in serving clients is to enable individuals to attain and achieve mastery over limitations in their often harried and overwhelming lives, wherever those struggles or difficulties may lie.
