My goal is to help you uncover a healthier, happier, and more self-aware version of yourself by the end of our journey together. Let's embark on this transformative process, and I look forward to witnessing your growth and progress.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In your first therapy session, you can expect a welcoming and supportive environment where you can begin to share your story. We will start by discussing what brings you to therapy, your current challenges, and your goals for our work together. This session is an opportunity for you to ask questions and get a feel for the therapeutic process. I will explain how our sessions will typically unfold, and we will begin to establish a rapport and trust. Together, we will start to outline a plan tailored to your needs, setting the foundation for our journey toward healing and growth. This initial meeting is all about getting to know each other and creating a safe space for your therapeutic journey.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT is like the wise old sage within the realm of counseling theories and its time-tested, evidence-based approach has been validated by research for decades. I weave this pragmatic approach of cognitive restructuring, self-reflection, reframing, and mindfulness into most of my sesssion. This old sage will be present on our journey of growth and will often be joined by other sages of the therapy world to include Emotion Focused Therapy, EMDR, Trauma Focused CBT or other relational approaches.

Couples Counseling

In couples therapy, I integrate a comprehensive approach that draws on the principles of Gottman Method Couples Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Family Systems Theory and others to facilitate effective communication, understanding, and relational healing. Using the Gottman Method, I help couples enhance their friendship, manage conflicts constructively, and build shared goals and meaning in their relationship. EFT guides us in exploring underlying emotions and attachment needs, fostering deeper emotional connections and healing relationship wounds. Family Systems Theory informs our work by examining how family dynamics and intergenerational patterns influence the couple's interactions and relationship dynamics. Together, these approaches allow us to address both immediate concerns and deeper relational patterns, empowering couples to cultivate greater intimacy, resilience, and mutual support in their partnership.

EMDR

In therapy, I utilize Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) as a powerful tool to help clients process and heal from past traumatic experiences. EMDR involves a structured approach that integrates bilateral stimulation, such as eye movements or taps, to facilitate the brain's natural healing process. Through EMDR, clients can safely reprocess distressing memories, reducing their emotional intensity and the negative beliefs associated with them. This method allows for a deeper understanding of how past experiences influence present emotions and behaviors, empowering clients to develop healthier coping mechanisms and achieve greater emotional resilience. Together, we work collaboratively to harness EMDR's transformative potential, promoting healing and fostering a renewed sense of inner strength and peace.

Attachment-based

In my therapy practice, I integrate Attachment-Based theories as a foundational approach to understanding and healing relational challenges. Drawing on the principles of attachment theory, I focus on exploring how early experiences shape current patterns of relating and emotional responses. By fostering a secure therapeutic alliance, I provide a safe environment where clients can explore their attachment histories and how these impact their present relationships. Through empathetic listening and reflective dialogue, I help clients recognize and modify ineffective attachment strategies, promoting healthier relational dynamics and emotional regulation. This approach supports clients in developing greater self-awareness, empathy, and resilience, ultimately facilitating deeper connections and personal growth in their lives.

Christian Counseling

I approach sessions with a deep respect for each client's spiritual journey. I offer a compassionate space where individuals, couples, and families can explore their faith and its impact on their mental and emotional well-being. Drawing on both clinical expertise and spiritual insights, I collaborate with clients to address challenges through the lens of Christian principles such as love, truth, forgiveness, and grace. My therapeutic approach values the integration of faith with evidence-based practices, fostering healing and growth in alignment with clients' spiritual beliefs and personal goals.
