Hello, My name is Paul Bailey and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Arkansas and Texas. I graduated from Henderson State University with a Bachelors in Psychology and a Masters in Mental Health Counseling. I have been a licensed therapist for 9 years which I have worked in outpatient and inpatient settings. I have experience working with the following issues: anxiety, anger, depression, bipolar, psychosis, family issues, and behavioral issues. My two main approaches to treating clients are cognitive behavioral therapy and solution focused therapy. When I treat clients, we work together as a team to develop treatment goals and problem solving skills to develop solutions to their problems. My #1 goal as a therapist is to help clients meet their personal goals and improve their quality of life. Reaching out to others can be very difficult, but it can also be very rewarding. We all face problems; we just need the proper support and tools to help us overcome these problems.
Getting to Know You Your first session is all about understanding who you are, what brought you to therapy, and what you hope to achieve. I’ll begin by asking you about your background, including your current concerns, personal history, and any challenges you’re facing. This session sets the foundation for our therapeutic relationship, so honesty and openness are key. There’s no need to worry about “saying the right thing.” This is your space to share as much or as little as you’re comfortable with at your own pace. I’ll guide the conversation with thoughtful questions and a nonjudgmental presence. Discussing Your Goals In our first meeting, we’ll explore what you hope to gain from therapy. Are you looking for strategies to manage anxiety? Do you need support with family issues or relationship dynamics? Or are you unsure where to begin but feel the need for guidance? Whatever your focus, we’ll work together to clarify your goals and start building a roadmap for how we can achieve them. I believe in a team-based approach, meaning your voice and perspective are at the center of our work. Together, we’ll create a personalized treatment plan tailored to your unique needs and preferences. My Approach to Therapy I primarily use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT) in my practice. Here’s a brief overview of what that means for you: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): We’ll examine how your thoughts influence your feelings and behaviors. For example, if you struggle with negative thought patterns, I’ll help you identify and challenge them, replacing them with healthier, more constructive thoughts. Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT): This approach emphasizes finding practical solutions to current problems. We’ll focus on your strengths and what’s working well in your life to build on that momentum and create meaningful change. Both of these approaches are collaborative, empowering, and goal-oriented, making them effective for a wide range of issues, including anxiety, anger, depression, and family concerns. What Happens in the Session Here’s a breakdown of what you can expect during our first meeting: Introduction and Welcome: We’ll start with a brief introduction where I’ll explain confidentiality and what you can expect from therapy. This is your opportunity to ask any questions you have about the process. Exploration of Concerns: I’ll invite you to share what’s bringing you to therapy. You might talk about specific challeng
Treatment Methods I integrate two evidence-based approaches: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT). These methods address immediate concerns while fostering long-term growth. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) CBT helps clients identify and restructure negative thought patterns influencing emotions and behaviors. This approach enables clients to challenge unhelpful beliefs and replace them with constructive ones, improving emotional well-being and driving meaningful change. For anxiety, I teach skills like thought reframing, mindfulness, and relaxation techniques to help clients manage overwhelming thoughts and regain control over stressors. For depression, CBT breaks cycles of hopelessness by setting small, achievable steps toward their goals. Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT) SFT builds on clients’ strengths, emphasizing solutions over problems. This approach helps clients address immediate challenges by exploring past successes, setting clear goals, and identifying actionable steps. In family or interpersonal conflicts, SFT fosters problem-solving and communication skills, focusing on amplifying what works. Tools and Techniques I tailor tools to each client’s needs, incorporating: Behavioral Activation: Encouraging engagement in meaningful activities to improve mood and motivation. Mindfulness and Relaxation Training: Teaching techniques like deep breathing and grounding exercises to manage stress and regulate emotions. Psychoeducation: Empowering clients with knowledge about their mental health for informed decision-making. Role-Playing: Practicing communication and assertiveness in a safe environment. Structured Goal Setting: Collaboratively breaking larger goals into manageable steps. Collaborative Approach I prioritize building trust and rapport, involving clients in treatment planning to align goals with their values. By fostering a safe, nonjudgmental space, I empower clients to take ownership of their growth and healing journey. Seeking therapy is a powerful step toward change. Together, we can unlock strengths, address challenges, and create a life aligned with your goals and values.

This strength is deeply rooted in my professional expertise, evidence-based approaches, and unwavering commitment to supporting clients through their unique challenges. A Foundation Built on Experience and Expertise My journey as a therapist began with a solid academic foundation, earning a Bachelor’s in Psychology and a Master’s in Mental Health Counseling from Henderson State University. Evidence-Based Approaches: A Key Strength The cornerstone of my therapeutic practice is the integration of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and solution-focused therapy (SFT). CBT helps clients identify and challenge negative thought patterns, replacing them with healthier, more constructive ways of thinking. It empowers clients to understand how their thoughts influence their emotions and behaviors, enabling meaningful and lasting change. On the other hand, SFT emphasizes a forward-focused mindset, guiding clients to envision their desired future and identify actionable steps to get there. By combining these approaches, I help clients develop problem-solving skills, build self-confidence, and cultivate a sense of hope. A Collaborative and Personalized Approach What truly sets me apart as a provider is my emphasis on collaboration and teamwork in the therapeutic process. I view the client-therapist relationship as a partnership, where clients are active participants in their journey toward healing and growth. Together, we establish clear, achievable treatment goals that reflect their personal aspirations and values.
