If you are looking to work with a “real" person, I will meet you where you are, and you will be encouraged to be your true self, unapologetically. Bad humor (usually in the form of puns or dad jokes), geeking out over the latest Marvel show/movie, and discussing the latest video game releases can be commonplace in your sessions. Additionally, you will receive the time of someone who truly loves to help other people. My passion has always been to help other people heal and grow. Some things you may have gone through might be uncomfortable to talk about, but I will take every step possible to support you through your journey.
What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?
I feel that is always wonderful to provide you with a proper expectation of what is coming, if you decide to choose me as your therapist. Within the first session, I will do everything within my utmost power to provide a space of safety, non-judgement, and support to you; giving you the floor to share what is happening. With it being our first time meeting, there may be more questions that are designed to help me understand more of your background and the way you think. Rest assured though, I operate on the premise of permission. You are always in a position to share what you feel is comfortable for you, and you are welcome to decline sharing things you are not ready to talk about. I want you to be in the driver seat of your counseling.
Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.
One thing that I take pride in is that I have a strong desire to learn, whether it is through academics, learning about my clients, or even learning about myself. I actively seek out opportunities with other professionals in the field in which I can sharpen my skills and ensure I am updated on the best practices. I want to use whatever knowledge I can acquire to aid in giving you the best possible care you deserve. Something that I share with all my clients is that YOU are the most important person in the session. I firmly believe in empowering you to make any and all decisions in your life. I will never be in the position of "executing authority" over you or telling you to make decisions you don't agree with. My core value is to give you the support and space to grow into the person you are capable of being, all while providing assistance and care as you figure it out. You will never be alone.
