Hi! I've been in practice since 2011 and will tell everyone I meet that I LOVE my job! I love helping people understand themselves better, finding answers to questions, and sharing the moment when someone says "So THAT'S why that happens!" I love helping people unhook from beliefs that have brought debilitating guilt and shame. I love celebrating success with someone who has taken a risk, challenged their fears, and come out the other side victorious!
In our first session, we'll talk about what's been problematic for you and whether or not you already have ideas for how things could improve. We'll go over expectations for therapy and you can ask me questions that you have about our work together. Because I think self-care is important, I'll ask you about your self-care routine and talk about some steps to get one started if you haven't already.
I love to laugh with my clients! Humor relieves tension, normalizes humanity, and makes room for understanding and compassion. My clients typically say that I am warm and relatable.
We will work well together if you are ready to learn and willing to take some risks so that change can happen. I know change takes time and it will be important for us to build a good working relationship together first. I hope to be able to challenge you with some things that might be hard to hear at first but will ultimately be turning points in your path toward health.
Trauma Informed Care
Trauma is experienced and impacts us on many levels and in many ways. While we do our best to cope with the trauma at the time it is happening, often we are doing so as children with undeveloped resources. Healing happens as we identify the parts of ourselves that emerged as a result of needing to cope with that trauma and whether or not they are still helping us as we get older.
Attachment-based
It's important to consider the impact that our families of origin have on how we develop. I will explore with clients significant experiences and primary relationship dynamics to help us understand the internal template that they have developed for the world and themselves in it.
Christian Counseling
I am available to provide counseling from a faith-based, Biblical counseling perspective if that is important for the client.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
The feelings and behaviors that feel problematic to us actually originate with thoughts that are often distorted and unhealthy.
