I'm a licensed mental health counselor with over 12 years of experience. I have a bachelors degree in psychology from The University of South Florida, and a masters in science focused on mental health counseling from Nova Southeastern University. In addition to having an extensive background in helping individuals with depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and trauma, my hospital experience has also afforded me the opportuniy to work with critical diagnoses such as schizphrenia, boderline personality disorder, autism, and traumatic brain injuries just to name a few more. If you're in need of additional help such as medication, rest assured that you will be connected to a partnering provider who will be part of your care team.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During our first session, I like to go over your initial intake form which should include the reason your coming to therapy. We will cover as much as you feel comfortable covering within our time together. We will explore specific challenges you may have, and how they affect you in every aspect (relationship, career, self-esteem, etc). With a good understanding of the challenges you're facing, we can then consider realistic goals that would help address or solve this issue. If necessary, I will give you something to work for our next session.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My ablity to put my clients at ease is critical to my success. I take great pride in fostering a warm, peaceful and welcoming environment for my clients. My experience in crisis invervention and stabilization has really allowed me to develop a vast amount of knowlenge using diverse therapeutic approaches. When working with me, you will feel listened to, understood, welcomed, and supported. As my client, you will have access to me between session via email, text, or phone call. If an emergency arrises, I will do everything in my power to respond to you in a timely fashion. I'm also fully bilingual. Bienvenidos clientes de habla hispana!

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

The goal of CBT is to help people identify and challenge negative or unhelpful thoughts, learn self-help strategies, and change their behavior. CBT can help people view challenging situations more clearly and respond to them more effectively. By identifying negative or erroneous thoughts and behaviors we can working on reframing these ideas for a better underdstanding and approach to problem solving.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

This approach helps listen empathetically to your concerns while offering postive feedback, support and encouragement. Your emotions are specific to you, and this approach allows for validation and clear understanding of these emotions. With this foundation, we can identify the appropriateness of thoughts and perspectives, giving us target areas for cognitive reframing, or changing the way you view and ascribe value to such emotions or perspectives.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

This is a short term goal-focused approach evidence-based therapy approach, incorporating positive psychology principles, focusing on effective solutions rather than the problems themselves.
