I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Indiana. I received my master's degree education from Purdue University Northwest. I have experience in working with a variety of issues including, but not limited to, mood and anxiety disorders, trauma, grief/loss, and adjustment disorders. Outside of private practice, I work as a therapist in the schools and with non-profit agencies in the community.
In our first session together, we'll start with introductions; which creates space for you to ask questions, go over and ensure we are clear on informed consent, privacy rules, what sessions will look like and what to expect going forward and of course just getting to know one another a bit better. I want to make sure that by the end of the first session we both feel like this is a good fit and you are comfortable with moving forward in treatment with me as your therapist.
I will respect and honor your disclosures and help you work toward developing tools and strategies to take control of your narrative.
CBT treatment usually involves efforts to change thinking patterns. These strategies might include: Learning to recognize one's distortions in thinking that are creating problems, and then to reevaluate them in light of reality. Gaining a better understanding of the behavior and motivation of others.
