Our current world is no doubt a confusing one. Even worse, when you're experiencing a challenging time in your life, time may feel as though it is standing still. Sometimes, there simply are no "right or wrong" answers, but solutions may be closer in reach than you think. My goal is to help you navigate through challenges - the grey areas - that make you feel powerless. While working closely together, my primary goal is to help you discover your own unique center of gravity that will refine your sense of confidence, hope, and meaning.
In our first session together, we will explore any existing problem areas that are generating any anxiety or distress in your life. We will collaboratively establish a specific framework with concrete goals that will allow us to facilitate the best results. Homework will likely be assigned after the first session, but this is essential to the therapeutic success, as any demonstrated effort outside of the therapy space is usually met with the most effective results!
I am a solution-focused therapist at heart who uses a cognitive-behavioral lens, the combination of which usually leads to a high level of engagement and receptiveness with my clients! Additionally, I am a strong advocate of using a conversational tone throughout sessions, which I have observed encourages a safe, collaborative space to exchange thoughts, ideas, and strategies.
I frequently utilize various CBT techniques to explore the relationships between your thinking patterns, emotional states, and behavior/decision-making. Additional techniques are utilized to deconstruct unhealthy thinking patterns that may be interfering in various areas of your life.
I use EFT to explore underlying emotional states associated with early- and present-attachment patterns with loved ones.
Using the therapeutic alliance as a foundation for our work together, I use interpersonal/relational therapeutic techniques to evaluate and improve upon any interpersonal deficits.
I use motivational interviewing techniques to evaluate your motivation, ambivalence, or resistance to healthy, adaptive change.
I use psychodynamic techniques to assess the unconscious motivations and desires that may be generating unhealthy thinking patterns, emotional states, and/or behavioral patterns.
