I see teens and adults with a primary specialty in maternal mental health, including the areas of prenatal and postnatal issues, difficulty conceiving, miscarriage, single-parenting, being a new mom, postpartum depression/anxiety, loss of identity post-baby, and more. Additional specialties include trauma, mood disorders, and anxiety. Jessica is an LGBTQ+-affirming therapist. My therapeutic style is centered around each individual's needs, strengths, and areas for growth. I work from an empathetic and respectful stance that aims to help you alleviate pain, stress, and internal struggles.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session, we will spend time getting to know each other and building our therapeutic relationship and understanding. I aim to make you as comfortable as possible, at your own pace.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I pride myself in being able to normalize and relate to a lot of the struggles my clients face and highlight the fact that they are not alone in their feelings and journeys. We could all use fine-tuning on our coping skills and thought processes, and it is a pleasure to get to aid my clients in doing just that.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT can be very effective, as its structured and goal-oriented. Can include assessments, goal-setting, psychoeducation, and identifying negative thought patterns.

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)

This treatment method works to help individuals improve emotional connection and address relationalHoe stress through building a secure therapeutic alliance, identifying patterns, and accessing/exploring emotions.

Compassion Focused

This method helps clients develop self-compassion, especially if struggling with self-criticism, shame or low self worth by building a foundation of psychoeducation, cultivating a compassionate mindset, and eventually developing compassionate self-talk by working on the inner critic. Clients will also engage in soothing techniques and build resilience.

Gender-affirming therapy

This is a supportive therapeutic approach that acknowledges and validates a client’s gender identity and expression, providing a safe space for exploration and addressing challenges unique to gender-diverse individuals. This is done through creating an affirming environment, awareness of intersectionality, active and empathetic listening, supporting identity exploration and expression as well as addressing minority stress and discrimination.

Trauma Informed Care

This method emphasizes understanding, recognizing, and responding to the effects of trauma on individuals. It’s especially useful for creating a safe, empowering therapeutic environment for clients with histories of trauma, helping to avoid re-traumatization. We do this by creating a safe environment, building trusting relationships, and empowering your choice and control while emphasizing emotional/physical safety techniques.
