My name is Anna Sidorchuk and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) specializing in Trauma Informed Somatic Psychotherapy. I am based in Los Angeles, CA and work with clients statewide via telehealth. I work with individuals, teens, and couples and specialize in eating disorders, sex and relationship therapy, anxiety and mood disorders, codependency and trauma, spirituality, life transitions, and LGBTQIA focused care to support my clients in healing and building fulfilling lives.
The first session is focused on setting the space for our work together and getting to know you. We talk about what brings you to therapy at this time and I ask various questions to better understand your experience and background through an intake process. The most important goal of the first session is to start building our therapeutic relationship and for you to feel safe with me and connected. We start discussing your goals for therapy and our collaborative goal setting happens during our second session.
I am passionate about supporting people in transforming their lives and I care unconditionally about my clients. My ability to provide a therapeutic container where my clients feel deeply met, heard, accepted and understood allows us to discuss many topics they may have not felt comfortable in sharing with others. The topics of eating disorders, sexuality, body image, relational challenges and traumas are sensitive and private, and knowing how to address the tenderness and bring healing and connection to parts that have been hidden is one of my deepest strengths.
DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) is a skill-based therapy that supports you in learning how to regulate anxiety, manage emotions, develop communication and interpersonal skills, and expand mindfulness. We incorporate skills both in and outside of therapy to support you in growing your toolbox of coping skills to handle any challenge that life presents and feel resourceful.
I integrate the Internal Family Systems (IFS) approach to support my clients in understanding their own parts and how to process the emotions and needs of their parts to develop integrated adult selves.
Through extensive experience and understanding of trauma, our work together reflects on traumatic experiences of my clients' past, especially in their childhood, to resource and provide deeper healing and rewrite patterns of relating to themselves and the world.
Bringing depth psychology and Jungian psychology into the therapeutic container allows us to bridge the conscious and unconscious mind and work with archetypes, dreams, symbols, and derive deeper meaning making to support my clients to better understand themselves.
At the foundation of my holistic therapeutic orientation is the connection of the mind, body and spirit. The Somatic Psychotherapy approach is grounded in understanding how our emotions get stored in the body, how trauma and distress impacts the body, and how to regulate the nervous system to create an internal feeling of safety and develop attunement.
