Thank you for taking time to learn more about me! I am a licensed clinical social worker in the state of Georgia after graduating in 2014 with my Masters degree at Florida State University. I have worked with many different types of individuals from coast to coast, from the city to the country and everywhere in between. I have been providing telehealth services since 2015 helping individuals navigate many different types of challenges that impact mental wellness.
In your initial session with me, it is my goal to ensure we are a good fit for one another. I want to get to know you, your history, and what led you to therapy. Gathering your history is important however my ultimate goal in this first session is that you feel safe with me as your clinician. Our experiences and life circumstances shape us into who we are and how we view the world. Our lives are filled with demands, pressure and stress with challenging people and challenging circumstances often making peace difficult to find and life difficult to balance. You are an individual and an expert in your life, your therapy must reflect that and fit you specifically. I am a collaborative and goal focused clinician and I will work with you to tailor our sessions and your treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs. We start where you are and work towards the goals you want to achieve in your journey to wellness.
Throughout my life, therapy helped me so much in my own journey of healing and wellness. I have learned, it will be a life-long journey of healing, learning, growing, changing, and transforming. I am a teacher at heart and if I learn something, I want to share it. If I know something, I want others to know it too. This has been my drive and passion, to ensure anyone who is willing to show-up and learn more about themselves has the opportunity to grow, change and transform.
Experience: 10+ years CBT is a treatment method to challenge thought patterns that influence the way we feel and behave. By becoming aware of negative and inaccurate thinking, we can build strategies that influence healthier feelings about ourself which are tied to the way we respond and behave. Sessions are focused on lessons with accompanying worksheets during therapy and in-between therapy sessions.
Experience: 10+ years SFT is a goal-oriented type of therapy typically completed within a time-frame of 8-12 sessions to uncover solutions to present day issues. We will analyze present problems/circumstances and past causes to develop solutions to help move you through the issue. This is a strengths-based approach to identify resources within and around you to get you to your goal. This is treatment for those who are motivated to change, ready to change, and who will put the effort into changing. Sessions focus on goal setting, worksheets are used in-session and then action steps are completed in-between therapy sessions.
Experience: 5+ years CPT is a type of CBT delivered in 12-sessions to address PTS (Post-Traumatic Stress) and challenge undesired, unhelpful, and unhealthy beliefs related to the experienced traumatic event or events. We will engage in specific techniques in each session to identify, challenge and change your thoughts and feelings related to the trauma. Sessions are focused on lessons with guided practices during therapy and possible worksheets in-between therapy sessions.
Experience: 5+ years DBT is similar to CBT with challenging thoughts and beliefs that influence the way we act and react to situations in addition to accepting the discomfort that the thoughts may evoke. DBT places emphasis on regulating internal emotions adding in elements like mindfulness, acceptance and distress tolerance, and interpersonal skills to give you more tools for dealing with difficult situations. Sessions are focused on lessons with accompanying worksheets during therapy and in-between therapy sessions.
Experience: 10+ years Whether bereavement, divorce, or any significant loss, the experience of mourning and grieving that loss, forever changes our lives. Grief is what led me in becoming a therapist after the death of my husband over 20 years ago. Guided by Worden and his principles of the 4 tasks of mourning, I companion you through the process of accepting the reality of loss; processing the pain of grief; adjusting to a "new" world; and finding an enduring connection while embarking on a new life.
