Abby primarily works with clients ages 16 and above to address issues such as anxiety, depression, mood disorders, life stressors and trauma related issues. Abby works collaboratively with the client and meets them where they are, recognizing that they are their own life expert and guides them with the tools to help them heal within themselves and assist them in finding realistic, effective ways to cope in everyday life. Abby has a realistic, casual and comfortable approach to counseling, including a use of humor, as she believes that the relationship and rapport you have with your client makes up the vast majority of effective therapy. Abby is here to help you help you feel seen, heard, validated, and feel in control over your life and emotions.
Client's can expect an hour long session where Abby will explore their entire biopsychosocial history in order to gain an accurate understanding of major themes within client's life which could be contributing to their mental health struggles. The therapeutic relationship is a major facet of Abby's approach, so she encourages client's to show up as their authentic selves in order to establish a genuine connection.
Abby's greatest strengths comes from deep rooted qualities she possesses which are major foundations for therapeutic work: empathy, compassion, and advocacy. Abby is a firm believer in normalizing discussions surrounding mental health while encouraging clients to feel and accept their emotions. Abby gives clients a comfortable atmosphere to explore their emotions in a safe space.
I teach clients ways of accepting their emotions fully, experiencing them in healthy ways, and how to manage dealing with stressors.
