Kiara Jones is an LMHC (Licensed Mental Health Counselor) in the state of Florida. She obtained her Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology and Minor in Women’s Studies from Georgia College & State University in 2011. From 2013-2014, she went on to work as a Primary Counselor at Northwest Passage, an inpatient facility in Wisconsin, where she provided care to teenage girls who struggled with severe mental health and behavioral concerns. During her time at Northwest Passage, she documented daily charting observations of 16 residents, completed monthly reports of resident progress, facilitated Healthy Living groups, provided residents their basic needs, distributed resident’s medications, and provided crisis intervention. Thereafter, Kiara attended Clayton State University where she received her Master’s of Science in Clinical Psychology in Georgia in 2016. After graduate school, Kiara moved to Florida to work as a Therapeutic Behavioral On-Site (TBOS) Therapist & Community Action Team (CAT) Therapist with Chautauqua Healthcare Services. In both roles, Kiara provided community-based therapy to children and adolescents who were deemed at-risk for removal from the home, demonstrated behavioral concerns, experienced issues in the school (i.e. grades, truancy, social issues and etc.), and/or experienced severe trauma. Over the past 5 years, Kiara has worked at the Gulf Coast Children’s Advocacy Center (GCCAC) as a Trauma Therapist with the Trauma Therapy Treatment Team where she provided weekly therapy to child and adult survivors of severe abuse.
Starting therapy can be a significant and positive step toward mental and emotional well-being. The first session typically involves several key elements designed to make the process comfortable and informative. Initially, I will likely begin with introductions and a brief overview of their background, qualifications, and approach to therapy. This helps to build a foundation of trust and understanding, crucial for a therapeutic relationship. Following the introductions, I will likely ask you to share the reasons that brought you to therapy. This conversation may include discussing any current struggles, past experiences, or goals you have for your mental health. Lastly, I will explain the practical aspects of therapy, such as confidentiality, session structure, and any policies regarding cancellations or fees.
I am a firm believer in compassionate and collaborative care. I look forward to helping clients become the best version of themselves.
