I like to view psychotherapy and the therapeutic relationship as having a personal trainer for your emotional well being and personal life. It can teach relational skills and promote healing. It requires a commitment to yourself and serves as an investment. The return on that investment can be achieving goals, growth, and emotional satisfaction. There are many reasons someone may seek out a therapist, regardless of those reasons my goal is to provide a safe, non-judgmental environment where we can build a trusting therapeutic relationship that allows for healing and growth. I am a Licensed Psychotherapist with over 30 years of clinical experience specializing in grief and loss, trauma, PTSD, addiction, mood disorders, suicidal ideation and crisis intervention. I enjoy working with diverse cliental across all stages of life.
The first session is about establishing if we are a good fit for each other. Therapy is fundamentally about relationships. It is in relationships that we heal. And here too, it is important for each client to know that they are in a safe and comfortable space wherein they can do whatever work needs to be done.
I have practiced using Relational and Psychodynamic approaches primarily amongst other therapeutic techniques.
The space that I enter into with another human being, I consider to be sacred. I treat it as such. I am curious and have compassion for the individual that I work with. Each person comes into this relationship with their own set of experiences. I recognize this, and have respect it.
