Greetings, I am a licensed social worker who has been practicing for 32 years. I absolutely love helping others, and I have also worked in mental health for 30 years. I earned my MSW at Howard University and my PhD in Social Work from The Catholic University of America in 2007. I aim to provide a safe and non-judgmental space for everyone I work with to resolve issues that are most challenging to them.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session, we will make introductions and then focus on what is most important to you and our work together. We must develop a clear plan for our future sessions.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I have worked in this field for many years and developed good listening skills. I know how to ensure the people I work with receive complete attention and respect. When we are working together, my clients are my priority.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I have been working from this perspective for over 20 years. This approach is very helpful to many people who may be struggling with negative thoughts, emotions, and difficult behaviors that are usually a result of experiences in childhood or early adulthood. Changing our thinking tends to change our feelings and behaviors, improving our quality of life.

Narrative

I embrace using narrative therapy with my clients. Everyone's stories are important and impact how we see ourselves and our world. I value the narratives related to the experiences of those I work with. Sometimes, people are not given a safe space to tell their stories. I provide that nonjudgmental safe space.

Culturally Sensitive Therapy

I believe in practicing with cultural humility. My clients are the experts in their lives and their stories. Culture matters, and I make every effort to become familiar with the culture of the people I work with.
