I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor in North Carolina with over 20 years of experience working with individuals, and couples with issues related to anxiety, stress management, depression, relationship problems, career development, and life transitions. My qualifications include a Master's degree in Counseling and Personnel Services from the University of Maryland at College Park, and I am a National Certified Counselor and Certified Rehabilitation Counselor.
The first session will focus on getting to know one another and building rapport through respect, sensitivity and compassion. We will talk about why your seeking counseling and I will gather information about your history through questions. We will go over your completed intake forms and together we will create a therapeutic plan for us to work through in future follow-up sessions.
My greatest strengths as a provider are my ability to listen carefully to issues, build trusting therapeutic relationships, help client's identify patterns and to promote self-awareness and lasting life change.
My therapeutic approach when working with couples and individuals is an eclectic approach. This allows me to use the most effective methods available to address client's individual needs.
I utilize a cognitive-behavioral approach to focus on helping a person identify and challenge beliefs and thoughts that get in the way of their ability to fully live the life they want and that lead to problematic behaviors and actions.
