Hi, I am a clinical social worker based in Massachusetts. I currently work in an alternative high school and also have a private practice serving clients in a one-on-one setting. I have a lot of experience working with adolescents and families. As a school adjustment counselor and therapist, I help students with a wide range of mental health disorders, (ADHD, anxiety, mood disorders, self-esteem issues, etc), increase regulation skills, self-awareness, social awareness, conflict resolution skills, and problem-solving skills. I have worked with many parents to help manage stress, develop healthy boundaries, improve communication, develop coping strategies, and increase parenting skills. I help my clients find their inner strengths and identify characteristic that will drive change.
The first session will consist of brief introduction, a list of questions for the client to understand who they are, their needs, how they cope, past experience with therapy, what brings the client to therapy, and the client's therapy goals.
Having worked with adolescents, young adults, and parents for over 15 years I am skilled at building rapport, helping increase healthy communication, and created healthy therapeutic alliance. I have been able to establish a safe space for my clients to openly share their struggles, and build strong therapeutic rapport, which provides assurement of my (therapist) support and alignment. My goal is to listen to you while being empathetic, and culturally sensitive, walk you through your struggles, identifying factors that contribute to your struggles, set attainable goals to overcome struggles, develop self-help strategies, support you in the implementation of such strategies, and evaluate progress.
I have been using CBT for many years in my clinical practice as one of the tools to achieve positive outcomes. The purpose of CBT is to change our unhelpful and unhealthy thought patterns, feelings, and behaviors, in order to help us face difficulty and achieve our goals. We will utilize CBT interventions to improve emotional regulation skills and create coping strategies to overcome difficulties. CBT can be used to treat a list of psychological problems like anxiety disorders, depression, low self-esteem, substance misuse, and emotional or behavioral problems in adolescents and children.
