My name is Maria Cancelada. I have a vast experience as clinical supervisor, clinician, clinic manager within Riverside County. I have worked with clients with a wide variety of concerns including depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, mood disorders, relational issues.. My goal is meet each client where they are, to establish a trusting relationship to help them navigate to their ideal emotional health.
During our first session, we will have a brief introduction with each other. We will spend time building rapport and creating a comfortable and safe space for open conversation. This session we will talk about the specific challenges you are dealing with and how to best support you moving forward.
I am deeply passionate about therapy. My approach to care is to treat each person as a unique individual. My philosophy is to provide unconditional acceptance and support regardless of their personal struggles or circumstances.
I have used CBT in my practice 20 yrs. CBT is based on the concept that your behaviors, thoughts, feelings, and physical sensations are all interconnected and sometimes you can get trapped in a negative cycle. CBT looks at your responses to certain situations and shows you more helpful ways to react in everyday scenarios to break this negative cycle.
I have used DBT in my practice for over 15 yrs. DBT is a type of therapy that focuses on balancing acceptance and change. It helps clients learn coping strategies and manage emotional distress. DBT involves skills training, mindfulness, interpersonal effectiveness, emotional regulation, and distress tolerance.
I have used Motivational interviewing (MI) approach in my practice for 15yrs. MI is a counseling approach designed to help people find the motivation to make a positive behavior change. This client-centered approach helps clients come up with solutions to their problems.
I have used Mindfulness based therapy (MBT) in my practice for 20 years. I incorporate MBT with other approaches to help clients to have awareness of thoughts, emotions, feelings, surroundings and situations. MBT approach helps the client to develop awareness of their thoughts and their surroundings as well increased awareness of their automatic responses.
