Hello, I am Dakota and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I have been practicing for between 3-4 years now and have multiple different specialties. I work with specialties of LGBTQ+, depression, anxiety, ADHD, disruptive mood dysregulation disorder, men's issues, sex issues/sex addiction, alternative sex culture and many others. If you find it hard at times to do tasks that others take for granted, even things like getting out of bed or taking a shower, then I am here to work with you and help you move forward to a more productive and fulfilling lifestyle. As a member of the LGBTQ+ community and someone who has struggled with depression and anxiety most of my life, I feel like this gives me valuable insight into these areas. I look forward to meeting with you!
In our first session together, we'll start with brief introductions, then dive into the specific challenges you're facing. This will help me create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions.
I use many different treatment methods which are determined on a case by case basis to meet your specific needs. Currently my go to counseling method is cognitive behavioral therapy, but I am looking into getting certified on others as well.
I struggled with depression and anxiety for most of my life, as well as a large portion of my family, which was a big factor in my going into this field in the first place. I have three children ranging from ages 9 to 15 years old all of which have some form of mental health difficulty. The younger two were foster adopted and both suffered from trauma which added to the mental health difficulties. I am also a gay male. I have struggled with this most of my life and still do at times. I did not come out until I was 20 years old because I was always taught that it was wrong and that still hangs over my head at times, but this does get better and eventually you can learn to live a normal fulfilling life.
