As a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), my mission is to guide individuals on a journey back to their innate wisdom, compassion, peace, and confidence. I often think of the story of Michelangelo, who described sculpting as the act of chipping away marble to reveal the beauty already within. This metaphor beautifully captures the counseling process: together, we identify and remove the barriers obscuring your true SELF, allowing your inner brilliance to shine through. My approach is rooted in deep compassion for the human experience. I bring to our work a blend of trauma-informed care and evidence-based practices, enriched by certifications in Mind-Body Bridging, Cognitively-Based Compassion Training, and Cultivating Emotional Balance. I draw from powerful therapeutic frameworks, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Mindful Self-Compassion, and Compassionate Inquiry, tailoring each session to meet your unique needs.
In our first session, we'll start with brief introductions. Then we will co-create a tailored plan to address what you most hope to get from our upcoming sessions.
What sets my practice apart is my passion for integrating the best of Western psychology with the time-honored wisdom of contemplative traditions. This synthesis allows me to address not just the mind, but also the heart and spirit, offering a holistic path to healing and growth. Whether you're seeking clarity, resilience, or deeper self-understanding, I am here to support you in uncovering the beauty that lies within. Together, we can navigate life's challenges and create lasting change, one step at a time.
I use Internal Family Systems (IFS) to help clients cultivate a peaceful relationship with themselves. By exploring, in a compassionate and non-judgmental way, the parts of us that have been wounded, we can promote self-awareness and healing. With our true, core SELF leading the way, we can feel confidence and courage as we navigate our lives, and we can interact more compassionately with others.
I use mindfulness-based techniques to help clients become more aware of thoughts, emotions, and bodily sensations in the present moment. Mindfulness allows us to observe inner experiences rather drowning in them. This approach helps reduce stress, increase emotional regulation, and improve self-awareness. Mindfulness helps us to break free from automatic patterns of thinking and behavior, cultivating a greater sense of calm, clarity, and resilience in daily life.
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients identify and challenge negative thought patterns that may be contributing to emotional distress or unhelpful behaviors. Together, we'll work on recognizing how thoughts, feelings, and actions are connected, and learn practical strategies to change those patterns. By developing healthier ways of thinking, we can improve how we feel and how we respond to challenges, ultimately leading to more positive behaviors and greater emotional wellbeing. CBT is a solution-focused approach that can provide lasting tools for managing stress, anxiety, and other concerns.
I use Mindful Self Compassion (MSC) to help people cultivate self-compassion and develop a kinder, more understanding relationship with themselves. MSC recognizes that many people struggle with harsh self-criticism and feelings of inadequacy, which can hinder emotional wellbeing. Through MSC, we'll explore ways to transform these negative self-judgments and replace them with a compassionate, nurturing approach. By developing a compassionate mindset, you can build emotional resilience, reduce shame, and improve your overall wellbeing, fostering greater self-acceptance and kindness in your life.
In our therapy sessions, I use an eclectic approach, which means I draw from a variety of therapeutic techniques and methods to best meet your unique needs and goals. This approach allows us to tailor each session to what works best for you, combining elements from different therapies such as Internal Family Systems, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness, and compassion-focused strategies. By being flexible and responsive to your experiences, we can address the challenges you're facing in a way that is most effective and personalized, helping you make meaningful progress in your healing journey.
