I was born and raised in California, the daughter of immigrants from Mexico, they came to the United States hoping for a better future and opportunities. I am a first-generation college graduate and understand the sacrifices many parents make to give their children a better future. I attended California State University Dominguez Hills and have a background in Child Development and Human Services. I recognize that it takes courage and vulnerability to embark on a journey of self-discovery through therapy. I have a strong background in Critical Race Theory, which offered me a lens to analyze critically how systems of oppression affect people in underserved communities. I work from a trauma-sensitive, client-centered approach. I have worked in community mental health for six years, helping individuals recognize their potential and greatness. My values and beliefs embody my Mexican culture and spirituality. They align with the core values of the social work profession of service, respect, justice, dignity, the worth of a person, self-determination, integrity, importance of human relationships, and competence (National Association of Social Workers [NASW], 2017). I believe individuals can rebuild their lives, change, and recover. Effective helping constitutes the ability to believe that people can change by showing empathy, showing them that you care, respecting their culture, and by showing people that what you do is consistent with what you say.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

I offer a free consultation so you can decide if we'd be a good fit working together. In our first session, we will introduce ourselves and then dive into your specific challenges. Together, we will develop a plan that works for you to work through in follow-up sessions.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I have worked with individuals utilizing cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness, and other evidence-based techniques that can help transform traumatic experiences into strength and confidence.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I’ve used Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) strategies for six years. It has effectively helped individuals to challenge difficult, reoccurring thoughts and manage their symptoms of anxiety. I will help you challenge these difficult thoughts, develop more realistic perspectives, and teach you new ways of thinking/coping skills. We will identify and change behaviors that are contributing to your symptoms of anxiety.
