Hi! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Qualified Supervisor, and Certified Behavioral Health Case Management Supervisor who has worked in the behavioral health field for over 10 years. I graduated from the University of South Florida School of Social Work in 2016. I have practiced in both a community-based setting and residential treatment settings with children, adults and families. In addition to private practice, I work as a Director with a non-profit in Florida working with clients who have co-occurring disorders and serious-persistent mental health conditions. I have experience working with mental health, substance abuse, parenting issues, and the dependency system.
Our first session will be spent building rapport, as well as learning about your short-term and long-term goals. We will identify the necessary steps needed to reach those goals.
Having worked with a variety of clients in different settings throughout my career, I am a reality-based therapist. Focusing less on how things make you feel, we will focus on how your thoughts and behaviors are impacting your emotional state, as well as realistic steps that need to be taken to reach your goal(s). When we do discuss feelings, we will look beyond happy, sad, and mad to name the root cause of the emotion in order to identify tools to be successful.
Thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are all connected. Understanding how one impacts the other can be the key in making sustainable changes.
An important foundation of counseling is education. I will implement psychoeducation into almost every session in order to help increase understanding and allow clients to make informed decisions in order to meet their goals.
Trauma informed care means being able to recognize the role a traumatic event has played in our lives. Many times, trauma is seen as a major life event but there is more to explore and understand how stressors can be causing a barrier to reaching long-term goals.
Counseling is only one piece to the puzzle. We will explore how other areas of your life (psychiatric, medication, physical health, etc.) are contributing both positively and negatively to your current status.
