I believe that it is a privilege to hold space for people seeking help for their mental health and/or life circumstances. It is incredibly hard to ask for help from a stranger and I have nothing but respect for those who do. I have no agendas as a therapist. My only concern is to meet you where you are at.
I seek to create a safe space for the intake process. I will ask questions about your history and ask about your symptoms. You will tell me what you want to work on in therapy and we will come up with a strategy. I will also inform you of my policies and allow you to ask any questions you might have.
I am an authentic person. I am a passionate supporter of empowerment and change. I am honest and transparent. I don't unnecessarily pathologize client's behaviors. I consistently form strong therapeutic relationships with my clients. I find that I am skilled at helping people relax in session due to my approach. I use humor appropriately, I interact with my clients, I don't sit there in silence. I want the best for all my clients, so I am always willing to admit when I am not an expert at something and will help you find another provider.
I use CBT to challenge unhelpful thinking patterns and assist you in discovering a balanced mindset over difficult situations.
I work with you to look at your past experiences and how this informs your present behaviors and perspectives.
I use CPT to address symptoms of trauma. It is a structured 10-13 week intervention that involves homework. The goal of CPT is to give you the tools to cope with your trauma symptoms in an empowering way.
I work with you to meet you where you are at. I strive to respect your process and encourage your growth at your own pace.
