Hey, I'm Siedah. I'm happy you're here! Starting therapy can be a bit challenging. And finding the right therapist can be a bit tricky... but if you're reading this, you're off to a good start-keep going. I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in Illinois. I have over nine years of experience working with children, adolescents, families, and adults. I see clients both virtually and in-person.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, we'll spend some time building rapport-I want to learn more about you as a person and I'm happy to share more about myself as well. And then we'll begin unpacking some of the challenges that led you to therapy. Then, we'll discuss what your goals for treatment are before we wrap up.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I'm most proud of my ability to help individuals normalize and humanize their experiences. Many of my clients (from all age ranges) carry so much shame and self-loathing from adverse experiences. And in validating their feelings and offering new perspective, they often feel more assured and confident.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use CBT methods and techniques to help clients understand the relationship between our thoughts, feelings, and actions (behaviors). I also use it as a way of identifying any maladaptive core beliefs individuals may have about themselves. This treatment works well for many individuals.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I use DBT approaches with clients who are struggling with accepting themselves (their feelings, thoughts, and behaviors). DBT work includes concrete skill-building in the areas of mindfulness practices, distress tolerance, emotional regulation, and interpersonal skills.

Family Therapy

I use family therapy when working with youth and individuals who would benefit from improving family relationships.

Culturally Sensitive Therapy

My (personal) and professional approach in engaging with others is being understanding and respectful of other's perspectives, values, and beliefs.
