Hello and welcome. I'm Katie, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with 12 years of experience working with diverse populations. Finding a therapist can be intimidating, but I'm here to support you in your journey in whatever way I can. As an added bonus, my pitties Gumbo and Yoshi will want to introduce themselves and offer virtual support in our sessions! I'm currently accepting new clients who are struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship conflict, and self-esteem/body image issues. I also have experience treating military service members and their families.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session I will ask a few questions to get the conversation started, but it will not feel like a stuffy and structured interview. I prefer to have an easy and flowing conversation to learn more about you and what your goals are. I'm passionate about creating a safe, nonjudgmental environment for my clients. Therapy should not be considered a "one size fits all" approach, so you and I will work together to create a plan that meets your individual needs. I commend you for being here and encourage you to reach out. I look forward to working with you!

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I have 12 years of experience in various settings, including inpatient psychiatric treatment, primary care, and most recently in a military treatment facility.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT helps manage symptoms by changing the way we think and behave. In CBT, we can identify and challenge unhelpful/negative thoughts, learn helpful strategies, change and modify problematic behavior, and learn how to have more control over thoughts and feelings.

Cognitive Processing (CPT)

CPT focuses on how your thoughts have been impacted after experiencing trauma and can effectively reduce symptoms of PTSD.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

DBT is helpful for those who are interested in learning how to better regulate/manage their emotions, improve relationships, and tolerate stressful situations.

Couples Counseling

Couples counseling aims to improve communication, conflict resolution, and overall satisfaction in relationships. I am also certified in trauma-focused couples counseling.

Motivational Interviewing

Motivational interviewing is a technique that helps people identify and resolve their feelings about change, resolve conflicts, and make reasonable goals related to the desired change.
