I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in the state of Florida. I am a proud veteran of the US Army. I completed my Masters Degree at Wake Forest University and have been providing services for the past 8 years. I love working with clients to help identify what's happening "behind the scenes" in their lives so they can live the healthy and fulfilling lives they deserve.
In our first session together, I really want to understand the whole picture of what life looks like for my clients. It may feel like I am asking a lot of questions, but our struggles can often present in ways we don't immediately connect to the core issue. Looking at the whole picture allows us to identify what areas to prioritize so we can set some goals for future sessions.
One of my greatest strengths as a provider is my ability to be direct, yet compassionate. My compassion provides a space in which nothing feels like it is off-limits in our discussions while my direct communication allows us, together, to confront and challenge your struggles.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is an excellent way to identify, and eventually challenge, the negative thoughts and beliefs which precede negative emotions and behaviors. I've been utilizing this method for years with great success in helping clients figure out the "why do I do that?" question.
