Hello there, I am a dedicated child clinician with a passionate focus on trauma-informed care. My mission is to provide a safe and nurturing environment for children and adolescents who have experienced challenging life events. With a deep understanding of trauma's impact, I specialize in helping young minds heal, regain their resilience, and rediscover a brighter future. Together, we can navigate the path to recovery and well-being. Let's embark on this journey of healing and growth.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In your first session with me, clients can expect a welcoming and supportive environment where their comfort and well-being are top priorities. Here's what typically happens in the initial session: 1. **Introduction and Building Rapport:** We'll start by getting to know each other. I'll introduce myself and provide an opportunity for clients to share their names and any immediate concerns or goals they have. 2. **Confidentiality and Informed Consent:** I'll explain the confidentiality of our sessions and obtain informed consent, ensuring clients understand the nature of our therapeutic relationship and their rights. 3. **Assessment and History:** We'll discuss the client's background, including family dynamics, personal history, and any past or current trauma or mental health concerns. This helps me gain a comprehensive understanding of their unique situation. 4. **Setting Expectations:** I'll explain what clients can expect from the therapeutic process, including the frequency and duration of sessions, the goals we'll work towards, and how progress will be measured. 5. **Client Goals and Concerns:** I'll encourage clients to share their goals, concerns, and any specific challenges they want to address in therapy. This helps me tailor the treatment plan to their needs. 6. **Initial Strategies:** Depending on the client's immediate needs, we might begin exploring coping strategies, relaxation techniques, or mindfulness exercises to provide some initial relief. 7. **Questions and Clarifications:** Clients are encouraged to ask questions and seek clarifications about the therapy process, my approach, or any other aspects they are curious about. 8. **Collaborative Approach:** I emphasize that therapy is a collaborative effort, and together, we'll work towards their desired outcomes. By the end of the first session, clients can expect to have a clearer understanding of the therapeutic process, a sense of being heard and understood, and a foundation for the work we'll do together in subsequent sessions. It's a safe space to begin their journey towards healing and personal growth.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

As a therapist, my greatest strengths stem from my extensive experience and deep commitment to helping others. Over the course of my career, I've dedicated over 5 years to working directly with children as a therapist and have spent over 9 years within school environments, advocating for their well-being. My track record speaks to my abilities. I've successfully transformed the lives of numerous clients by significantly improving their school attendance and behavior. Moreover, I've played a pivotal role in helping clients gain insight into the ways their past traumas impact their present struggles with anxiety and depression, equipping them with valuable tools to effectively combat these challenges.

My treatment methods

Play Therapy

Play therapy is a wonderful therapeutic approach that allows children to communicate and process their emotions in a way that feels natural to them. By engaging in play, children can express their thoughts, feelings, and experiences, even when they might find it challenging to do so using words alone. This form of therapy helps therapists gain insights into a child’s inner world, making it an effective tool for addressing a wide range of emotional and behavioral issues.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is a highly effective approach for addressing various mental health concerns and helping individuals develop more adaptive thought patterns and behaviors. Using Socratic questions is a fundamental aspect of CBT. These questions encourage clients to examine and challenge their thought processes, assumptions, and beliefs, ultimately leading to a more balanced and rational perspective. By guiding clients through this process of self-reflection and inquiry, you can help them identify and modify unhelpful thought patterns and behaviors. For over 5 years, I have witnessed the positive impact that CBT can have on clients' lives by empowering them to find solutions to their problems and develop better coping strategies.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

Mindfulness therapy encompasses the practice of enhancing awareness of one’s thoughts, emotions, surroundings, and situations, while also cultivating the ability to mitigate automatic negative reactions. The application of mindfulness proves invaluable in managing and alleviating anxiety.

Trauma-Focused CBT

I've finished the TF-CBT course and am currently in the process of awaiting certification. TF-CBT, short for Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, is an evidence-based psychotherapy designed to meet the needs of children and adolescents dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder and other challenges arising from traumatic life events.
