Hello and welcome! It's heartening to witness your commitment to the journey of healing and self-discovery. With my background as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I bring extensive experience in addressing challenges related to mental health, substance abuse, and eating disorders. My therapeutic toolbox includes proven methodologies such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, and specialized training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). In addition to individual sessions, I am a passionate advocate for the power of community support. I strongly encourage involvement in 12-step fellowships or similar support groups. Establishing connections within these communities, alongside the therapeutic relationship we'll build together, can be transformative. The synergy of individual and group support often proves invaluable in the healing process. Remember, the path to well-being is not a solitary one. Having a supportive network, including a dedicated therapist, creates a holistic environment conducive to positive change. I'm here to guide and support you every step of the way on your journey towards a healthier and more fulfilling life. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to share them—I'm here to help.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our initial session, I'll extend a warm welcome as we embark on our therapeutic journey. We'll start with an overview of the therapeutic process, discussing confidentiality and ensuring you have a clear understanding of what to expect. You'll have the opportunity to share your story, including personal history, challenges, and goals. I'll provide insights into my therapeutic approach, delving into techniques like Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and how they align with your preferences. Together, we'll collaboratively plan our sessions, setting goals and strategies. Throughout the session, there will be open dialogue, and your input is crucial in shaping our approach. Building a trusting and supportive therapeutic alliance is a priority, and by the end of our first session, I hope you'll feel informed, supported, and ready to embark on a journey of healing and self-discovery tailored to your unique needs.

My treatment methods

EMDR

As a therapist, I utilize Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) as a powerful psychotherapy technique, especially in the treatment of trauma-related disorders like post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). In my practice, I guide individuals through a structured eight-phase process aimed at helping them process distressing memories. The core of this therapeutic approach involves the use of bilateral stimulation, often achieved through side-to-side eye movements. In my work with clients, I collaborate to identify and target specific traumatic memories. The application of bilateral stimulation is thought to enhance the brain's processing of these memories, ultimately leading to a reduction in emotional charge and the integration of more adaptive beliefs. It's important to note that while research strongly supports the effectiveness of EMDR for PTSD, the exact mechanisms underlying its success are still subjects of ongoing investigation. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions or if you'd like to explore how EMDR can be beneficial for your unique therapeutic needs.
