I am a therapist trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), grief and bereavement, and relationship counseling. I work with clients of all ages, including those in the LGBTQ+ community. Having done the work to improve my own mental health, I understand how difficult it can be to ask for help. My goal is to support my clients throughout their therapy journey, helping them build a strong foundation for growth. I work with individuals facing challenges such as anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, life transitions, and relationship issues.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In your first session with me, you can expect a warm and welcoming environment where we'll focus on getting to know each other and beginning to build a strong therapeutic relationship. I will take time to gather important information about your background, your current challenges, and what has brought you to therapy. We’ll discuss your mental health history, personal goals, and any specific areas you’d like to focus on. Throughout the session, I’ll ask questions to understand your needs while making sure you feel comfortable and heard. Together, we’ll begin setting initial goals for therapy and start working on a plan that is tailored to your unique situation. My goal is to ensure you feel supported and empowered from the very first session.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I believe my greatest strength as a provider is my deep empathy and personal experience with mental health challenges. This allows me to connect with clients on a profound level, helping them feel understood and supported in their journey. I strive to create a safe, non-judgmental space where clients can open up about their struggles, which motivates them to engage fully in the therapeutic process. Additionally, my training in various therapeutic modalities equips me with the tools to tailor my approach to meet the diverse needs of my clients effectively.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Processing (CPT)

In therapy, I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help you understand how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are connected. We’ll work together to identify negative thought patterns that may be impacting your emotions and actions, then develop strategies to challenge and reframe those thoughts in healthier ways. This approach can help you gain better control over how you respond to difficult situations and emotions.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

In therapy, I use Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to help you manage intense emotions and develop healthier coping strategies. We’ll work on building skills in four key areas: mindfulness, emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness. These tools will help you stay grounded in the moment, manage stress more effectively, and improve your relationships by communicating more clearly and setting boundaries.

Grief Therapy

In grief therapy, I provide a safe space for you to process your loss and the emotions that come with it. We’ll work through feelings like sadness, anger, and guilt, helping you to express and understand your grief in a way that honors your experience. Together, we’ll explore healthy coping strategies and ways to navigate life after loss, focusing on healing and finding meaning as you move forward.

Motivational Interviewing

In therapy, I use Motivational Interviewing (MI) to help you explore and resolve any ambivalence about making changes in your life. We’ll work together to tap into your own motivation and strengths, focusing on your goals and values. Through open and non-judgmental conversation, I’ll support you in identifying the reasons for change and building confidence to take the next steps toward personal growth.

Psychoeducation

In therapy, I use psychoeducation to provide you with information and insights about your mental health, emotions, and behaviors. By helping you understand the psychological factors affecting your well-being, you'll gain a clearer sense of how to manage symptoms and make informed decisions about your treatment. This knowledge empowers you to take an active role in your healing and apply practical strategies to improve your daily life.
