Are you a first-time parent and feeling overwhelmed? Are you struggling to balance it all? Do you miss having time for yourself? Are you wondering if what you're feeling is normal? You are not alone. I started For a Season Counseling because this is what so many mothers feel, but are afraid to talk about. Sometimes the parenting journey is not what we expected making the days feel daunting. This may be a challenging season of your life, but it will pass. I started For a Season Counseling to help normalize the struggles parenting brings up and give parents the tools to manage what they're experiencing.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

When working together, you can expect us to create clear goals and strategies to try at home. You can expect us to discuss realistic/unrealistic expectations, child development, support system and making time for yourself. I offer flexibility around the days and times we meet to fit your busy schedule.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

I use a cognitive behavioral model where we dive into what thoughts and feelings drive your behavior. We discuss whether these are helpful and accurate thoughts so you can begin to process and gain clarity around your experience. I lean towards an action-oriented (solution-focused) model where we discuss a clear action plan and strategies to practice outside of sessions. I find this helps you gain a sense of hope and control during a season where unpredictability is so common.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I'm passionate about working with first-time parents, parents of young children and women during the perinatal/postpartum period.
