What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

I know reaching out can be a big step, so I commend your courage. Please know that you're in a safe, supportive, and judgment-free space here. If you choose to work with me, I'll always have your back. Our first session will focus on getting to know each other and establishing a foundation for collaboration. I believe a strong therapeutic relationship is key to successful therapy, and I prefer a collaborative approach where we work together as a team. We'll prioritize creating a safe space where you feel comfortable sharing your thoughts, feelings, and experiences. Feel free to ask me any questions you have about my background or experience – I'm an open book. As this is the intake assessment, I'll also ask you questions about your personal history, any current or past physical or mental health concerns, your upbringing, and your current life circumstances. Share as much as you feel comfortable; this assessment is about you. Together, we'll identify your most important goals and create a roadmap for addressing any challenges you encounter along the way. My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Imagine your thoughts as a pair of glasses you wear daily or a camera you use all the time. If the lenses are smudged, cracked, or distorted, everything you see through them will also be. Negative thoughts work in the same way. They can dull our life experiences, create feelings of anxiety, depression, and physical symptoms, and even lead us into situations we wouldn't want to be in. I can personally relate to how negative thoughts can create a downward spiral. As a therapist with over 14 years of experience specializing in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), I have witnessed the transformative power of this approach in countless lives, including my own. Through CBT, we will work together to help you clean those lenses. In a judgment-free zone, we will collaborate to identify the unhelpful thoughts that might be holding you back. Maybe you tell yourself you're not good enough or that things will never get better. We'll examine those thoughts, along with the feelings and actions associated with them, test if they truly make sense, and gradually shift your perspective towards a more positive and fulfilling life. .

Trauma Informed Care

As a Certified Trauma Professional Level II, I have dedicated many years of my career guiding countless individuals through the profound journey of healing from many types of trauma. In a safe and collaborative space built on trust, I have witnessed incredible resilience emerge as clients shed the heavy burdens of guilt, shame, and emotional pain. My approach is rooted in evidence-based practices, but it is also deeply informed by the wisdom and strength I see in every individual. I believe that trauma, while undeniably painful, can also be a catalyst for growth. Together, we will uncover the resilience you have unknowingly cultivated through your experiences, empowering you to reclaim your life and embrace the freedom to live on your terms. I am honored to walk alongside you on this transformative path, offering unwavering support and guidance as you rediscover your inner strength and create a future filled with hope, healing, and possibility.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

I have led over 500 mindfulness-based group sessions in my career along with supporting numerous individuals, couples, and families learn skills to implement these powerful techniques. And I had used mindfulness-based practices before I joined the mental health field which has been intregral in my own growth. I incorporated mindfulness and grounding techniques into my therapeutic approach to help clients cultivate a deeper connection with the present moment and manage overwhelming emotions. Mindfulness involves paying non-judgmental attention to our thoughts, feelings, and bodily sensations as they arise. In therapy, I guide clients in developing mindfulness skills through meditation, breathing exercises, guided imagery, body scans, and other techniques besed on your needs and choices. These techniques can help individuals become more aware of their internal experiences, reduce reactivity, and cultivate a greater sense of calm and well-being. Grounding techniques are particularly helpful for individuals struggling with anxiety, trauma, or dissociation. These techniques involve focusing on the external world through our senses to anchor ourselves in the present moment. I teach clients various grounding exercises, such as noticing the details of their surroundings, engaging in physical activities, or focusing on their breath. By practicing these techniques, individuals can learn to interrupt overwhelming emotional states and regain a sense of control and stability. By integrating mindfulness and grounding into therapy, I aim to empower clients to develop greater self-awareness, emotional regulation, and resilience. These skills can be invaluable in navigating life's challenges, reducing stress, and fostering a more profound sense of inner peace. Whether you're seeking relief from anxiety or depression, coping with stress in our lives, or simply looking to enhance your well-being, I can help you harness the power of mindfulness and grounding exercises to create a more fulfilling and balanced life.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I incorporate Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills with various evidence-based treatment modalities to provide comprehensive care for individuals, couples, and families based on each individual's needs. My approach addresses a wide range of challenges, including Emotion dysregulation, Interpersonal conflicts, Communication breakdowns, Trauma/PTSD, Anxiety, Depression, and personality disorders. I create personalized treatment plans incorporating mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness skills, tailoring interventions to each client's unique needs and goals. Through a compassionate, safe, and collaborative approach, I empower clients to develop healthier relationships, manage emotions effectively, and build a fulfilling life.

Motivational Interviewing

I utilize Motivational Interviewing within treatment for a variety of addictions, including substance use, gambling, sex, work, video games, exercise, and what has truly gotten out of balance and created problems in daily life. This practice empowers individuals to explore their relationship with their addictive behaviors, helps identify one's own motivation for change, and develops personalized plans for recovery. My compassionate and collaborative approach, along with my life experience of seeing those close to me devastate their lives while in active addiction. Motivational Interviewing helps clients overcome ambivalence, build confidence, and make lasting changes that lead to healthier and more fulfilling lives.
