Hello, I'm Kevin Thornton, I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Georgia. I have been in the mental health care field for over 27years.  I guide, support and encourage people to find ways to live healthier lives through talk therapy. I believe that talk therapy works best when there is a collaborative effort to developing a healthier mindset.   My goal is to provide a  safe place for you to be open to exploring alternative ways to live a better life. I understand that seeking therapy can be a scary process; however you deserve to think better, feel better, and do better. In our sessions together, we will use evidenced-based tools and techniques to help you manage life more effectively.   I am honored to join you on this journey.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In their first therapy session expect a safe and confidential space to share your concerns, discuss your reasons for seeking therapy, and begin establishing a therapeutic relationship. It’s common for the counselor to gather background information, assess the your goals, and collaboratively outline a treatment plan. Overall, anticipate feeling heard, understood, and supported in the initial session.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My greatest strengths are active listening and understanding. I have the ability to meet you were are with compassion and empathy. I will empower you to discover effective ways to mange the difficulties in life. (stress, mood, anxiety, anger etc.)

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) has been a key method in my practice for many years. It’s a practical, results-oriented approach that focuses on identifying and changing negative thought patterns that influence emotions and behaviors. In my work, I use CBT to help clients break down overwhelming problems into more manageable parts—thoughts, feelings, and actions. By working together to challenge and reframe unhelpful thoughts, we can create more positive outcomes
