Hey, I'm David. I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) based in Texas. I received my Masters from Lipscomb University and have been practicing for over 3 years. Through the use of various therapy approaches (i.e. CBT, DBT), I aim for people to know themselves as peaceful, whole and safe. I provide an atmosphere of acceptance for my clients. You'll have the the freedom to be who you are in our sessions. There is no judgement here.
In our first session, we will start with brief introductions, discuss practice policies, then talk about specific challenges you're facing. I recognize the importance of autonomy, so my style of therapy is relaxed and collaborative. We will work together to recognize and highlight your strengths while helping you build skills and tools that works best for you. Remember, You Matter. We'll laugh. We'll cry. We'll heal.
Having been through some mental health challenges myself, my greatest strength is being relatable while: (1) Helping you identify the root cause of your challenges; (2) Creating a tailored plan that aims to improve the quality of your mental health.
I use this method to highlight how your thoughts, beliefs, and attitudes affect your feelings and actions.
I use this method for clients that experience intense emotions. DBT focuses mindfulness, emotional regulation, and building your distress tolerance.
Instead of the problem being our main focus, we will use the solution-focused method to view challenges as opportunities to create actions toward solutions.
