About me

Hi! I'm Emily and I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, Art Therapist, and Professional School Counselor. I received my Master's in Counseling Psychology, with an emphasis in Art Therapy, at Adler University (formerly the Adler School of Professional Psychology) and School Counseling Endorsement from DePaul University. I have been practicing for over 13 years, helping individuals (adolescent through adulthood) manage emotional distress and learn healthy coping strategies to reach a higher level of social-emotional wellbeing.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

During our first session, I will introduce myself, and try to understand the challenges you are facing. I will ask questions to understand the history of these challenges, what may trigger a heightened level of emotional distress, and what/if any coping strategies and supports you already have in place. From there I will create a plan to help you achieve your goals towards a higher level of increased social-emotional wellbeing.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I love what I do and truly enjoy connecting with and helping my clients. Through working with diverse clients over the past 13 years, I have strengthened my skills in helping individuals understand the complexities of their emotions. I have a wealth of healthy coping strategies to teach and add to your "toolbox" to turn to in moments of distress. My goal as a therapist is for you to gain self-confidence and independence in these skills, to the point that you no longer need me.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I enjoy working with clients who are motivated to collaborate with me and make positive changes in their lives. My goal is to help my clients gain insight into their emotions and thought processes, while learning healthy coping strategies and self-care routines. I love when my clients are able to independantly recognize their cues to distress and utilize a tool to help shift their emotional state. This in turn can help clients improve habits and behaviors, relationships, and academic/job success and satisfaction.
