I am a professional counselor licensed in Pennsylvania and I do mainly psychodynamic, person-centered therapy. By this I mean I work on a deeper level to explore causes and underlying patterns of presenting problems and also working to ease one's resistance. I believe you as client are the most expert about what you think and feel, and can help offer validation and an outside perspective on your situation. I have a background in Gestalt Therapy as well as modern Psychoanalysis, which have contributed to my approach in that they see the person as an organic self, physical, mental, and emotional.
I will get a better idea from you of what is causing you to seek therapy and get some background information. Basically get to know more about your expectations of therapy and start trying to unlock some potential first steps to help you feel a sense of connection.
My strengths are relationships, anxiety, low self-esteem and feelings of being stuck in unhealthy patterns of functioning
I believe the client is the expert in their own life, they just need to have their awareness guided by someone who is able to pinpoint what is helpful for them. My psychodynamic approach stresses the importance of treating the whole person, and that problems can be a creative approach to dealing with a traumatic or painful experience, thus emerging from deeper causes.
