Welcome! I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) based in Texas. I received my Masters from Capella University in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and have been practicing for 6 years. I also conferred a Masters from Texas Southern University in Administrative of Justice. I am enrolled in Capella University’s Doctoral program, specializing in Clinical Psychology. I am working to develop my dissertation to explore the correlation between mental health disorders and high recidivism rates among vulnerable populations. My unyielding passion is to assist adolescents, young adults, and older adults with acquiring individualized skills to sustain a resilient attitude toward life stressors. As an integrative therapist, my approach involves implementing various therapeutic modalities to treat the whole person.
In our first session together, we'll start with brief introductions, and then identify your personalized goals that you desire to achieve. We will work together to create a tailored plan for us to utilize in the follow-up sessions.
Throughout my professional career, I have had the privilege of working with clients from diverse backgrounds. I think it is essential to hear the client and meet them where they are comfortable. Engaging in therapy can be a rewarding task, however, it will be a different experience for everyone. Fortunately, I have gained a wealth of knowledge from my academic endeavors and career opportunities that have allowed me to develop into a versatile clinician.
Solution Focused Brief Treatment is utilized as an integral part of treatment to help clients move past problem focused thinking and adapt a solution focused approach to resolving problems. Clients that have insight into their problems can benefit from this modality as they will work with their therapist to identify individualized interventions that are suitable to their needs.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is utilized as an integral part of treatment to help clients understand the correlation between our cognitions and our behaviors. Intrusive thoughts and unhealthy thinking patterns can exacerbate mental health symptoms and contribute to maladaptive behaviors.
Dialectical Behavior is utilized as an integral part of treatment to help clients analyze the relationships that are connected to them. Clients are taught techniques that aid with emotion regulation and distress tolerance. This modality explores factors that can both help clients change their lives and accept their reality.
An eclectic approach to therapy explores techniques from different orientations. Contingent of the client and their needs, a single modality may not be sufficient to address all the concerns of the client. As an integrative therapist, it is essential to implement various modalities to treat the whole person. One theoretical approach is not always suitable.
Forensic Psychology implements mental health assessments and evaluations to treat clients who are in the legal systems or who have a criminal history. This approach is useful in that it helps the individual identify and understand the factors that have contributed to their criminal behavior. I have worked in correctional and detention facilities and understand how adverse experiences may increase an individual’s involvement with the legal system. Recidivism is a revolving door, however the hope to explore practical techniques to minimize an individual's risk of incarceration.
