My name is Karen Charles and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Georgia. In addition to my state licensure, I have earned credentials as a Certified Master Addiction Counselor in the state of Georgia. I graduated from Thomas University in 2009 with a Master's in Rehabilitation Counseling and in 2004 with a Bachelor's in Social Work. I have 17 years of experience working in a variety of settings including, community-based outpatient, female juvenile correctional facility, private practice, and male correctional facility. I am member of National Alliance on Mental Illness and Licensed Professional Counselors Association of GA.
The first session will focus on rapport building, gathering information about the challenges the individual is experiencing, and the desired goals one plan to achieve.
I am compassionate, understanding, a good listener, empathetic, supportive and nonjudgmental. I accept clients where she or he is currently at in life. I look forward to the opportunity to helping you achieve your personal goals.
I am compassionate about using CBT with my clients because change starts with your thoughts which reflects how one feels and act.
I prefer to use an eclectic treatment modality to help my clients work through life challenges.
