Welcome! I have been licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist for over 15 years. I help adults of all ages who are experiencing emotional pain, dissatisfaction, and grief in their lives to heal their wounds, improve their relationships, and make necessary changes. My approach is holistic and addresses the intersecting aspects of our lives (psychological, physical, social, and spiritual) to bring about optimal healing and change.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

I want to learn about what brings my client to therapy and the goals they would like to achieve. I also want to know about their previous experience with counseling/therapy (if any) and take a thorough psycho-social assessment of their current situation and relevant history.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My many years of experience as a therapist has led me to believe that all people hold the potential to heal and live better lives. I see my clients with compassion and acceptance and encourage they hold a similar view -- even as we recognize that things in their lives aren't working the way they need or want.

My treatment methods

Grief Therapy

I have over 10 years of experience working with grief, terminal illness, and end-of-life issues. I use William Worden's Four Tasks of Mourning, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and CBT to address bereavement, complicated grief, anticipatory grief and Prolonged Grief Disorder. When appropriate, I like to incorporate visualization and ritual to help the bereaved in their healing process.

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)

I use EFT as a guiding therapy when working with individuals and couples. I teach clients about how we are biologically driven toward connection, safety, and love -- and how to change maladaptive patterns that lead to conflict and dysfunction rather than the secure relationships we truly want to have.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I help clients gain awareness into their patterns of thinking and how to constructively address "automatic" negative thoughts and beliefs that fuel depression, anxiety, and low self-esteem.

Polyvagal Therapy

I find that when clients learn about how their nervous system works, they are more accepting of their experience and less mystified and self-critical. Using this information, clients learn how they can self-regulate and feel like they have greater choice over their emotional and physical states and reactions.
