Hi I'm Maggie! I received my master's in holistic counseling psychology at JFK University in San Jose. I have an MA and am an LMFT (licensed marriage and family therapist) #145986; I received my bachelor's degree from the University of Colorado - Boulder in religious studies with a focus on Buddhism, Eastern religions, and philosophies. Since I can remember, I have always had an insatiable curiosity about people and human nature. I have always enjoyed connecting with people in meaningful ways. I like to help people through my compassion and empathy and also the knowledge and wisdom I have accrued over the years.
In the first session I will go over confidentiality and limits. I will let you know that this is a safe, confidential space for you to explore your inner thoughts and feelings and let you know what the boundaries are in what I would need to report. I would then invite you to tell me about yourself, your life, and what brings you to therapy. If you were to say this was hard I would help by asking open ended questions. I would ask what your goals are for therapy, and if you didn't quite know, I would help you figure that out too. I would ask you if you have been to therapy before, what you found helpful / not helpful. It would be a lot of getting to know you, in a safe, non-judgmental, and comforting space.
I have always been fascinated by people and their unique experiences. Connecting with others and helping them find meaning in their lives brings me joy. Whether you're struggling with anxiety, grief, trauma, ADHD, OCD, an eating disorder, body image, not feeling good about yourself, tension headaches, post concussive syndrome, difficulty sleeping, transitioning to adulthood, job stress, relationships, pregnancy, postpartum, parenthood, or any other concerns, I'm here to help.
I attune to clients in deep and meaningful ways to work on the attachment styles, aiming to heal childhood wounds and to improve your ability to show up in your present and future relationships.
I help clients get to know and re-connect with the different parts of themselves (for example their inner child), so that all parts have a voice to get their needs met.
I provide unconditional positive regard for my clients because I believe that is the space in which we heal.
I bring awareness to the body and the nervous system and help people gain awareness so they can learn to self-regulate more effectively throughout the day.
