Hi I'm Maggie! Since I can remember, I have always had an insatiable curiosity about people and human nature. I have always enjoyed connecting with people in deep and meaningful ways. I am skilled at psychoanalytics; my aim is to really understand who you are, what your life experience has been, and noticing subtle patterns. I am a "big picture" thinker and believe things make sense when taken into the whole context. I tend to take a “bottom-up” / “inside-out" approach. I also consider myself an empathetic, curious, and open-minded person. I am very "eclectic" in the way I practice as a therapist. I like to ask a lot of questions at the beginning. I like to know what clients are coming to me for (maybe they don't even know and it's my job to help them figure out what it is they are struggling with). I like to know what their goals are. Then, I ask questions and use assessment tools to form a picture. I look at things from many lenses, particularly attachment and trauma lenses as ways to heal mind, body, spirit, and soul. I like to help people get back in touch with who they are and re-discover joy in their lives. I might weave in some psychoeducation, techniques from IFS, Hakomi and more while you are sharing and processing your inner thoughts and feelings in what is called classic "talk therapy.” Depending on the level of trauma, we may even begin with EMDR therapy.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In the first session I will go over confidentiality and limits. I will let you know that this is confidential space for you to explore your inner thoughts and feelings. I would then invite you to tell me about yourself, your life, and what brings you to therapy. I would ask what your goals are for therapy, and if you didn't quite know, I would help you figure that out too. I would ask you if you have been to therapy before, what you found helpful / not helpful. It would be a lot of getting to know you in a safe and comforting space.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I would say that I am kind and a good listener. I let the client set the pace. I would say I also pick up on things that many people miss. I also am someone that when people knock me down, I re-build myself, and I am good at helping others with this too (when they are feeling like they are in those raw and broken moments). I create mosaics out of broken pieces or a phoenix out of ashes. I would also say I am good at using metaphors and creativity when it comes to teaching others. I would also say I am not afraid of going into the "depths" with people. I am a natural feeler and find emotions refreshing. Come as you are~

My treatment methods

EMDR

EMDR is a great therapeutic modality for working with trauma and also working with anything that is troubling you or affecting you in present life. It can elicit unbelievable feelings of relief and more. I am trained through Thrive Training, an EMDRIA accredited institute.

Internal Family Systems (IFS)

I help clients get to know and re-connect with the different parts of themselves (for example their inner child), so that all parts have a voice and a "seat at the table".

Person-centered (Rogerian)

I provide unconditional positive regard for my clients because I believe that is the space in which we heal.

Attachment-based

I attune to clients in deep and meaningful ways to work on the attachment styles, aiming to heal childhood wounds and to improve your ability to show up in your present and future relationships.

Psychoanalytic

I love using psychodynamics and psychoanalytics, classic "talk therapy", noticing patterns, helping clients gain more insight and awareness, and more!
