Hi! I'm an LCSW in Pennsylvania, originally born and raised in NYC. I am passionate about supporting others and providing a judgement free environment. I have experience working within an HIV clinic for the past 4 years. Prior to that, I worked in a family practice primary care site supporting families and individuals with behavioral health support. My focus is rooted in relationship issues, trauma & abuse, and generalized anxiety disorder. I utilize CBT and DBT with my clients to help promote a sense of independence and acceptance. We will focus on practicing mindfulness and utilizing tools to emotionally regulate the self. A little bit about my style of therapy, I aim to make this experience feel as natural and open as possible. I find that people come into therapy with an expectation of being told how to deal with their concerns - when in fact, I want to walk along side you in this journey. We are learning about you together and finding what works best for you. I hope to be that support and tool in your life during this transitional period. I look forward to working with you!
In our first session together I plan to get to know you and answer any questions you may have about me. I am a firm believer that a good fit between therapist and client is necessary for change. I would ask some questions about your situation and what you are looking for from this experience. I would then explain my approach as a therapist and how I set the stage for sessions to feel natural and less directive.
I specialize in treating Generalized Anxiety Disorders, Grief, and PTSD. I have a special connection and interest in working with young adults through transitional periods. I find my greatest strength as a therapist is being candid and authentic to help sessions feel less like work and more like an exploration of self.
I utilize CBT in my practice because being able to identify a behavior and actively work to modify it is crucial to making changes in your life. I combine methods from DBT as well - which is derived from CBT to incorporate mindfulness, emotion regulation, and distress tolerance.
I find that person-centered therapy has been most effective in building rapport with your client and giving the control and power back to their situation. I prefer a counseling session to feel equitable and a space that is safe and nonjudgmental. I offer time and space for a client to tell me how they would like me to guide them and allow space for them to take control of a session. This is their experience and time to share their story.
