Hey there, I'm Abryan. Are you seeking professional assistance to overcome overwhelming obstacles? Or maybe you just feel you need to speak to someone as a way to vent, decompress, and find healthy options on how to move forward? Well, I just may be your girl. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the state of CA. I provide an enjoyable environment, where clients feel comfortable talking and opening up. I can be funny by utilizing humor, but ultimately, I take pride in my work and want my clients to feel good about attending therapy. I love to assist clients with various goals, whether it is short-term or long-term. Mindfulness, meditation and relaxation techniques are MY THANG! Self-care is also very important and I will ALWAYS remind you of this during our sessions. I am looking forward to working with you and tackling these goals and obstacles together! :-)
During our first session, clients can expect for me to establish a welcoming and confidential safe space. I will discuss the client's reason for engaging in therapy, as well as discussing confidentiality, boundaries and addressing any questions or concerns. I will further delve into personal history and current challenges, by gathering information too better understand the clients goals and develop a treatment plan. Being able to build rapport with my clients is important to me because this will make or break the therapist/client relationship.
I have experience working with individuals who have anxiety, depression, stress and those seeking assistance with short-term goals. I utilize CBT, mindfulness and solution focused approach to tackle these symptoms. I have experience working with seniors, LGBTQ+ individuals, foster youth, and adolescents who are coming to terms with young adulthood.
In my practice, I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as a core treatment method to help clients identify and challenge negative thought patterns and behaviors that contribute to emotional distress. Through CBT, I will help guide clients to recognize unhelpful or distorted thinking, develop healthier perspectives, and implement practical coping strategies to manage difficult emotions and situations. By focusing on the connection between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. clients gain the tools to reframe negative thinking and make positive changes in their lives.
In my practice, I incorporate Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT) to help clients develop self-compassion and reduce feelings of shame or self-criticism. CFT aims to cultivate a sense of warmth and understanding toward oneself, which is particularly effective for individuals struggling with harsh self-judgment or feelings of unworthiness. By guiding clients through exercises that foster self-kindness and compassion, I support them in bustling emotional resilience and greater psychological flexibility. This approach encourages clients to view themselves with empathy, ultimately empowering them to respond to challenges with greater emotional strength and self-acceptance.
In my practice, I use psychoeducation as a treatment method to provide clients with a clear understanding of their mental health conditions and the psychological processes affecting them. By educating clients about how emotions, behaviors, and thoughts are interconnected, I empower them to make informed decisions about their treatment and daily life. Psychoeducation equips clients with knowledge about coping strategies, mental health resources, and self-care practices, enabling them to manage their symptoms more effectively.
In my practice, I use Solution-Focused Brief Treatment (SFBT) to help clients focus on identifying practical solutions rather than dwelling on problems. This goal-oriented approach emphasizes the client's strengths and resources, encouraging them to envision their desired future and take concrete steps toward achieving it. By guiding clients to set clear, achievable goals and recognize their progress, I help them build confidence and motivation to overcome challenges.
