Hello, I am Kathy Have you ever felt overwhelmed, lost, trying to juggle it all while trying to maintain a balance? When did you last dance or sing or enjoy what made you feel good? Remember the last time you had a "belly laugh?" I believe that we all need a guide, someone to help us get back to what we are good at and to a place where we can feel peace. I use the partnership approach in therapy as you are the specialist in your life and I am the specialist to help navigate the therapeutic needs of mind, body and spirit. I will combine Cognitive Behavioral therapy with positive psychology, mindfulness, and trauma resolution to help you experience the best you want to be and to help you live your best life. It can be hard to reach out and ask for a hand up and I would like to help you discover and uncover what it is that you would most benefit from whether it's from relationship difficulties, anxiety or depression, shame and guilt, ADHD or resolution of trauma, together we can work and create your bliss.
Our first session will be us getting to know each other and figuring out what is most important for you and what you need to help you heal. Every session after that will be focused on navigating using the tools provided during our sessions to help you reach your goals.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is science-based as well as Positive Psychology and I utilize those skills the most along with trauma reduction that includes getting rid of the shame and guilt that binds people to a "less than fulfilled life." I try to be flexible and use mindfulness, journaling, breathwork, and some radical acceptance or ACT therapy. We are not cookie-cutter people, so I don't use a cookie-cutter approach with therapy. It is as individualized as you are.
I believe my biggest strength is compassion and empowerment. I have worked in the field of domestic violence and sexual assault so I understand what shame and guilt can do. I am dedicated to helping people who have been through trauma understand that there is nothing wrong with them, it is what they have been through that has brought them to this time and place.
