Hello! I'm a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) and certified clinical trauma professional level II: complex trauma (CCTP-II) in Georgia. I integrate expressive arts with treatment methods such as CBT, DBT, CPT, narrative therapy, integrative body-mind-spirit social work, and existential/humanistic approaches to work with individuals who want to utilize creative practices to explore and express themselves in a way that moves them toward a life of purpose and growth. I am currently accepting adult clients for telehealth sessions; however, in September I will also begin accepting children, teens, and adults for in-person sessions in a studio setting. My practice is trauma-informed and trauma-responsive, focused on approaches that promote regulation, expand awareness, and facilitate connections in a manner that goes beyond traditional talk therapy. In addition to the treatment methods outlined above, I draw upon my belief in the healing power of nature, studies in eastern philosophy, and body-based approaches such as somatic therapy, yoga, and qigong.
In our first session together, we'll start with brief introductions and will identify the what you are hoping to gain from our therapeutic relationship. I will begin to gather some background information that will help me to gain a comprehensive understanding of your strengths, needs, preferences, and hopes. We will work together to create initial goals for our work together.
I have over 17 years of experience working with youth and adults in the areas of education, advocacy, youth development, mental health peer services, and mental health therapy. I have specialized training in expressive arts therapy, mindfulness-based practices, and the treatment of complex trauma. As an undergraduate, I studied eastern philosophy. I lived and traveled in Asia for over seven years, experiencing diverse cultures and worldviews. I am also a foster care alum and certified peer specialist for mental health (CPS-MH), which means that I have been trained to utilize my own lived experience navigating mental health treatment to support others on their journey. However, in a therapeutic relationship, the focus is always on you and your journey, as your journey is unique.
I integrate trauma-informed Expressive Arts Therapy (EXAT) with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Narrative Therapy, Existential-Humanistic Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Interpersonal Psychotherapy, and Integrative Body-Mind-Spirit Social Work , depending on the needs, strengths, an preferences of the individual I am working with.
I am a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional, level 2 (CCTP-II). I am also trained in Trauma-Focused CBT (TF-CBT) and trauma-informed yoga interventions. I integrate a trauma-informed approach in all of my work.
I integrate CBT skills as a foundational modality alongside expressive arts therapy (EXAT) and other approaches as appropriate. I am trained in Trauma-Focused CBT, Recovery-Oriented Cognitive Therapy (CT-R), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Suicide Prevention (CBT-SP)
I utilize CPT when the client wants a very structured and time-limited intervention to addressing trauma symptoms. CPT can be used as a precursor to, or in conjunction with, other treatment methods.
I integrate DBT skills as a foundational skill set with other methods such as CBT and Expressive arts therapy.
