Micah is a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 13 years of experience in the human services and mental health field. I received my Master's from Liberty University and having been practicing for the past 6 years. Micah utilizes a collaborative and holistic approach when helping her clients develop and gather tools to better help them along the way on their wellness journey.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Micah is a culturally competent trauma-informed therapist whose approach is strength-based and rooted in person-centered therapy, acceptance, and commitment therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and cognitive behavioral therapy. She values cultivating and prioritizing the safety of her clients within the therapeutic space. During our first session we'll start with brief introductions, then dive into the specific challenges you're facing. This will help me create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My greatest strengths as a provider include my own Neurodiversity. Along with my ability to not only educate, encourage and support my clients but to also learn from my clients.

My treatment methods

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

I enjoy utilizing techniques rooted in ACT. This type of approach allows me to assist my clients in learning how to be mindful in order to accept and commit to their life experiences without judgement.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

Learning how to implement DBT tools and strategies helps me to better aide my clients in improving their ability to better understand and regulate intense emotions.

Eclectic

It is important to me that I do not approach the needs of my clients through the lens of "one size fits all". Different needs require different tools and strategies. I commonly utilize ACT, DBT, CBT, Motivational interviewing, strengths based and compassion focused approaches and techniques.
